SUU sets sail at this year’s cruise ship-themed Casino Night

Southern Utah University is gearing up for its highly anticipated annual Casino Night, which is set to take place on Saturday, March 16, from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. in the Sharwan Smith Student Center. Organized by the Student Programming Board, this year’s cruise ship-themed event promises to be an unforgettable experience for attendees, who are encouraged to dress in formal or standard attire fit for a day at sea.

SPB Director Matthew Watson expressed his enthusiasm for the theme, stating, “We really wanted to do something that is fresh and has never been done before.”

Classic casino games such as blackjack, Texas Hold ‘Em, roulette and craps will be featured, providing guests with opportunities to try their luck and win prizes. New this year are the multiple photo booth experiences for those looking to take pictures throughout the night.

Hunter Bosgieter, vice president of programming for the SUU Student Association Executive Council, emphasized the efforts taken to enhance the overall experience for students, including the allowance of clear bags for the first time and the implementation of multiple prize drawing locations to alleviate event congestion.

Emily Wixom, assistant to VP of programming, shared her excitement to work on Casino Night.  “I think being able to see the behind-the-scenes of the event is my favorite, from creating the small details to bringing them to life for this full-scale event.”

Complimentary food and beverages will be provided throughout the event at different stations around the Student Center. For the grand finale, prize drawings will be held at the end of the night.

While the event is free for students, non-students are also welcome to attend by purchasing tickets. With the anticipation building and preparations in full swing, Casino Night promises to be an evening filled with entertainment, excitement and unforgettable memories.
