It’s only the first week of December, but that doesn’t stop Cedar City from bringing holiday cheer and magic. Here is your complete guide to holiday events happening this week.
Wednesday, Dec. 3:
The Brave Ribbon Foundation presents its annual Pink Christmas event occurring this year at Canyon View Middle School (1865 N Main St). Donations from the event support cancer patients in the community. Tickets are $5 per person or $20 per family and include access to entertainment, a silent auction, a bake sale, a gun raffle and a visit from Santa.
Thursday, Dec. 4:
“A Charlie Brown Christmas” debuts at 6 p.m. for SUU faculty and staff as well as their families and students to attend the 8 p.m. performance following. Tickets are free but are in high demand and must be picked up from the Southern Utah Museum of Art (13 S 300 W) prior to the performance on a first-come, first-served basis.
For students waiting to get into the show, a holiday lights stroll and hot cocoa social will be held at 7 p.m. at the Randall L. Jones Theatre (35 S 300 W). Students can knock out three SUU traditions at this event.
Friday, Dec. 5:
All of SUU’s major ensembles will collaborate to bring the community a holiday music concert. The Heritage Center Theatre (105 N 100 E) will host the musicians at 7:30 p.m., and as always, SUU students, faculty and staff are admitted for free.
Frisby Farms (South of Kanarraville off Old Hwy 91) holds their Christmas in Kanarraville event every Friday and Saturday through Dec. 20 from 5 to 8 p.m. Admission is $10 and includes pictures with Santa, a hot cocoa bar and an indoor Nightmare Before Christmas themed walk-through.
Kolob Station (Exit #40 I-15, New Harmony) will be visited by Santa Claus at 7 p.m. Before his arrival, guests can pursue the Christmas boutique, enjoy hot chocolate and cookies, craft and more.
In addition to Saint Nick, Krampus is also paying Cedar City a visit this weekend. He will appear at the Bookdom Apothecary (1579 N Main St) at 6 p.m. He is free to visit, and attendees will receive a reading of “Tonight is Krampus Night” by Kyle Sullivan, a free copy of the book, treats and even an autograph from Krampus himself.
Cedar City’s Fun Center (170 E Fiddlers Canyon Rd) is bringing a live production of “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” to the community at 7 p.m. on select dates from Dec. 5 through Dec. 22. The show is a modern take on A Christmas Carol. Tickets are $10 per person and $30 for a family pass.
InterMountain Performing Arts Conservatory (389 N 100 W, Ste 7) will perform the musical, “White Christmas.” Performances will run from Dec. 5-20, starting at 7 p.m. each night, and tickets are $20.
Saturday, Dec. 6:
The Johnson Arts Center (59 N 100 W) presents Spirit of the Season from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will feature live entertainment, karaoke, ornament decorating, a visit from Santa and more. Admission is free.
The American Preparatory Academy (782 N Main St) will be holding a Holiday Market from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring a visit from Santa from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Enoch hosts their third annual Christmas Fair: Christkindl Markt from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m at 2355 E Village Green Dr. In addition to the free hot chocolate provided, vendors will also be selling handmade goods, truffles, nutcrackers, evergreen wreaths and more.
Just outside of town, Parowan showcases its Winter Wonderland in the Park with a Sweet & Bright S’mores Night. The event begins at 5 p.m. at 16 S Main St. and features free treats and holiday lights.
“A Charlie Brown Christmas” returns for its second and final day of performances, showing once at 2 p.m. and once at 8 p.m. this time for all community members.
