Season 29 of The Bachelor has officially been set in motion. During the events of week two, Bachelor Grant Ellis sparked connections with the pool of 18 women he will be dating for the next few months through a game of basketball, original songs and a jealousy-filled cocktail party.
Episode highlights
In the second week of the show, there are still enough women for two separate group dates. The first date of the episode was the annual Bachelor Bowl, an event that happens every season where contestants compete for the lead’s attention in a sporting event. This time the girls played basketball.
Guided by a group of children, the ladies warmed up by practicing their slam-dunks. When it was Zoe’s turn to take a shot, she forfeited her turn and took Grant for a private moment on the roof. Not only did the other women feel threatened by this, but their child coaches were annoyed as well.
“We need to get this ball rolling,” one of the kids complained.
Once Grant and Zoe returned, it was time for the girls to compete in an actual game. One team wore yellow jerseys and the other wore purple. The purple team won and Chloie was awarded Most Valuable Player of the week.

The lasting results of the game included many broken nails and hurt feelings. Also, Zoe officially cemented herself as a villain in the mansion.
The following day, Grant took Alexe to an empty shopping mall for their one-on-one date. In the first episode, Alexe was awarded the first-impression rose, which guaranteed her the first solo date with Grant.
They explored the various stores, served themselves some ice cream and ended the date at a conveniently placed piano. Grant performed a song for Alexe that he allegedly wrote on the spot. She was impressed by his vulnerability.
Shifting from romance back to more drama, the last date of the week was a group date where the women were challenged to write a rap and perform it for Grant. The bachelor, once again, took this opportunity to show off his musical ability before the girls’ stole the mic.
I try to keep things fairly objective on this column, but those raps were so bad. I didn’t know it was possible to be off-key while rapping, but every single contestant proved me wrong last night.
Carolina won the rap-show for her contagious stage presence and spunk, celebrating by planting a massive kiss on Grant in front of

the other women. They didn’t like that, and during the date’s afterparty, Grant could feel the tension in the room.
“When I walked in there, I felt a little weird,” Grant said.
But he didn’t really feel bad for choosing Carolina as the winner, so the drama simmered for the rest of the episode.
Who went home?
The women who went home last night were Rebekah, who didn’t have a lot of screen time with Grant but seemed to get along with everyone, Ella, who I didn’t notice until she cried on the way out and Vicky, the bottle-girl with really pretty hair. The goodbye that surprised me the most was Allyshia. She was Grant’s first kiss of the season and I really saw sparks between them.
Next week
There is a lot of fighting and crying featured in the preview for next week’s episode. Caroline confronts Grant after hearing not-so-nice-things from the other women, and we will finally get to watch Dressgate.
“That’s the shortest dress I’ve ever seen in my entire life,” Serifina said about Zoe, who is already on thin ice with the other women.
The preview also shows Zoe’s much awaited confrontation.
“Are you the b**** who said my dress was too short?” she questioned.
Check in next week to see how much caffeine I need to drink to get through the episode!
