Kappa Sigma invited all Southern Utah University students to their “Night of 1,000 Nuggets” on Monday Jan. 27 to enjoy dino nuggets, socialize and learn about the fraternity during their rush week.
The fraternity chose to replicate a popular internet challenge at their promotional event, in an attempt to foster community with the campus community.
“Everyone knows about the challenges on Youtube and all those videos, so this is [the] 1,000 chicken nuggets [challenge],” said Kappa Sigma Secretary Q Jackson.

The goal was to eat 1,000 nuggets in two hours. With the help of fellow students, the fraternity was able to accomplish that goal. Fraternity member Garrett Martin made the biggest contribution, eating upwards of 60 nuggets.
Rush week is an opportunity for people to be introduced and inducted into the brotherhood. From Jan. 27 to Jan. 31 the fraternity will be hosting various social events including a bowling night and Call of Duty tournament.
Kappa Sigma, SUU’s newest fraternity, aims to use this rush week to raise awareness for their organization and its mission.
“Our mission is to give back to the veterans and all the people that fight for us and their families. Without the people protecting us, we wouldn’t have a free country,” said Jackson.
Grand Master Luke Delaney mentioned the fraternity also has a philanthropy week coming up in late March. It will consist of five days of charitable fundraising where all proceeds will go towards their Military Heroes Campaign.
“The guys are great. It’s a brand new fraternity, so it’s nice having the experience of starting it up,” said Delaney
Kappa Sigma has many leadership roles available and is always looking to find new members to join the brotherhood. For more information on how to get involved attend a rush week event or check out their Instagram page: @sukappasigma.
