The Southern Utah University Leavitt School of Business held their Business Week, starting April 1 and spanning until April 8. The entire week was packed full of activities for students to socialize at and compete in for rewards.
An egg hunt took place throughout the week to keep the students involved on their toes for anything out of place. Staff hid paper eggs around the business building for students to find. When a student found an egg, they returned it to the front office for a prize. Monday marked the opening ceremony. Students met the business council, received free t-shirts and were told about the activities that would take place during the week. Along with the ceremony, students participated in a library folder service event with the Community Engagement Center.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the minute-to-win-it games took place. Each major was split into teams, and participants played the games to earn points for their respective major. The major with the most points at the end of the week was awarded the Business Cup.
Thursday featured a few activities. First was trivia and the award ceremony. Participants played trivia to earn some last minute points for their major, and afterward, the Business Cup was awarded.
A Master’s of Business Administration info party was also held on Thursday. This gave students interested in entering the MBA program some tips and tools to get accepted after graduation.
“It was nice to finally be able to learn more about an MBA because up to this point I haven’t had the opportunity to do so, so it was good to get some answers,” said Seth Worthy, a business student.
The last event was a social outdoor barbeque. This was originally scheduled for April 5 but was postponed to April 8 due to inclement weather. Students were offered hamburgers, hotdogs, chips and drinks.
Student Claire Eagin shared her appreciation for the week-long event. “The activities I went to were super fun,” said Eagin. “It was a good way to get more involved than just going to class.”
