Southern Utah University is hosting a Beaver flood clean-up event this Saturday, September 12, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This will be a great opportunity to serve others and lend a helping hand to those in Beaver.
Volunteers are to wear closed-toed shoes and long pants; these clothes will get dirty and/or muddy. Gloves and tools are provided.
For all SUU students and employees, check in at the Sharwan Smith Center Ballroom by 9 a.m. to hear our plan, sign waivers and also get a free T-shirt and hat! Transportation will be provided. Sign up here!
A massive flash flood warning was issued on July 19 this year in Beaver. There has been major damage, with 80 homes that have been affected, neighborhoods submerged, and even I-15 shut down for hours to clear debris.
“The worst of times brings out the best of people,” said Governor Spencer Cox regarding the flooding. “We’ve seen that over the past few days in Beaver.”
We invite you to be a part of our community of service and prove that quote true; let these hard times bring out the best in us!
