The Iron County Fair was held from September 3-7 and included a carnival, rodeo, parade and car show. People from across the state attended this annual Labor Day tradition. This year’s theme was ‘Rocking the ‘90s.’
“Being raised in Parowan, my ‘homing’ device goes off every Labor Day weekend, signaling that it is time to come home for the Iron County Fair,” said attendee April Evans Lefevre. “As our family has grown, we love gathering even more with our grandkids each year at fair time.”
The fair featured a carnival with games and rides for all ages. Vendors lined the street, offering food and merchandise ranging from fried snacks to filling dinners. Live music was played by three different bands, including Muddy Boots, Most Wanted and Moonrockers.
The parade was held on Monday morning on Parowan’s main street. Many floats were featured with the ‘Rocking the ‘90s’ theme. All three high schools in Iron County were showcased along with multiple local businesses.

“My most favorite thing is to dance to the live bands,” Lefevre said. “I cry during the parade for some weird reason, and I love to hear and see the high school bands.”
On Friday, Saturday and Monday night, the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association performed at one of the area’s biggest rodeos. The rodeo hosted multiple cowboys who are ranked in the top 20 in the world.
“I look forward to the Labor Day rodeo all year long,” said attendee Libby Lefevre Spens. “It’s been a tradition in my family since before I was born and I love being able to reunite with family and friends.”
When asked what she thought about the rodeo this year compared to other years, Spens added, “This year’s rodeo was especially well done; smooth transitions between events, fun glow-in-the-dark horse show and great performances by the animals and athletes.”
The rodeo partnered with the Man Up Crusade and the Cowgirl Collective to spread awareness about domestic violence and suicide, encouraging fans, participants and support personnel to wear purple on Friday night and teal on Monday night.
