The International Mountain Bicycling Association designated Cedar City as a 2026 Trail Town. This designation is awarded to communities that are committed to maintaining, building and celebrating nearby trails.
Cedar City is one of 28 cities nationwide to receive this award and is the only one in Utah. The designation will be held for two years, from 2026 to2028.
“Receiving the IMBA Trail Town designation recognizes the incredible collaboration between volunteers, local organizations, land managers and community leaders who have worked for years to build and care for our trails,” said Mac Urie from Iron Trailcraft, an organization in charge of planning, building and maintaining the mountain bike trails in Iron County.
The trail systems in Iron County are important drivers of outdoor recreation economies, according to Maria Twitchell, Executive Director of the Visit Cedar City-Brian Head Visitors Bureau. Outdoor recreation revenue recently passed $9.7 billion statewide.
“Our trails are part of Cedar City’s innovative spirit, as they bring people together and invite adventure,” Twitchell said. “This designation is a wonderful recognition of the years of hard work, collaboration, and pride our community has invested in building a world‑class trail experience and showcases how our thriving outdoor recreation scene fuels both our economy and our way of life.”
