Thunderbirds Weather Forecast: Nov. 24 – 30

Cedar City, Utah, experienced heavy rainfall and chilly weather this last week. Luckily, students looking to travel for Thanksgiving break should have stable weather conditions and safe roads during the first of the week.

Monday, Nov. 24, will have sunny conditions with an increased temperature of 54 degrees Fahrenheit. Tuesday and Wednesday will see a decrease in temperature to the low 50s with partly cloudy conditions.

Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, will warm up just in time for the holiday, with a high of 55 degrees Fahrenheit and sunny conditions.

While there should not be any issues traveling home for the break, making way back to Southern Utah may be a different story.

Temperatures are expected to drop significantly during the weekend, with the high on Sunday only reaching 40 degrees Fahrenheit. On top of cold temperatures, snowfall is expected in the early morning, which may cause havoc on the roads.

Due to conditions, students are recommended to travel early. Vehicles should be regulated in safety with quality tires, a full tank of gas and an upkeep on services.

Because slick roads may occur, experts recommend “the slipperier it gets, the farther down the road you should look. Anticipate what you’ll need to do next. Slow way down for turns. Allow double the stopping distance when the road is wet, triple on snow and even more on ice.”

The winter weather conditions can be inconvenient, but they are also an opportunity to cozy up with warm drinks and delicious food this Thanksgiving.
