Many events give Cedar City its name: “Festival City.” One of them is the annual Storybook Parade that took place on Saturday, Nov. 8th.

Families flock from all over town the see the various floats, wagons, and trucks full of classic fairy tale characters. The event closed off the entirety of Main Street’s entrances to ensure a safe and fun experience for all who attend.
The town was extra packed in the morning with the combined activities between the parade and the farmers’ market. It was an opportunity that many took to get homemade snacks and goods before they went to watch.
An incredible number and variety of books were represented, from The Loony Tunes to Beauty and the Beast, and so many more that all the attendants gathered to celebrate together as a community.
“I think the best part is getting everyone excited about the parade by showing them how excited you are about it,” explained Tys Andrews, a participant dressed as a toy soldier. “This is my first time being in the parade, and I still feel like that’s the whole point.”
The parade is a way for people to ring in the holiday season with various holiday-themed icons, like

Santa Claus and his reindeer, rolling through town as well. A perfect segue for the upcoming holiday activities around town.
“This is my kids and I’s first time at the parade,” exclaimed an excited mom at the event. “We’ve been sad that we haven’t been able to make it in the past, but we finally made it, and it’s been great.”
The appeal of the parade is the fact that it isn’t designated to one audience. Grandparents, students, friends and family all gathered to watch recognizable characters that bring them a sense of whimsy and joy.
