Free Movie Fridays are getting spooky

Every Friday at 8 p.m during the month of October, the Cedar Fun Center will be showing a Halloween themed movie for free.

Friday, Oct. 3, the theater will be showing Tim Burton’s “Corpse Bride.”

The center will also be holding its first College Night in October giving students the opportunity to experience one of their many attractions at no cost.

While thinking of what they could offer to the community, Cedar Fun Center Owner Caleb Bittar  considered what source of entertainment was most expensive;  the answer was movies.

According to Cinemark, the average movie ticket in the United States in 2025 is $16.08 not including concessions. While the Cedar Fun Center offers concessions, no purchase is necessary to see the featured film.

“If there’s one thing in college everyone complains about, it’s money. They’re already spending a lot on tuition and rent and so it’s amazing being able to offer something to the community and then to see them taking advantage of it,” said Bittar.

Bittar says movies are just the start for them. The center has also recently started a program exclusive to SUU students.

College Nights will occur monthly and offer students a new free activity each month ranging from movie showings to laser tag. Oct. 27 will be the first of these events and “A Quiet Place” will be shown for free at 8 p.m.

“It’s a great opportunity for everyone to get together and mingle and just have a good time,” said Bittar.

The Cedar Fun Center is located at 170 E Fiddlers Canyon Rd. For more information about free movie nights and future events, see their website and Instagram page.
