SUU homecoming week: Pep Rally and Powderpuff game

Southern Utah University lit up Eccles Coliseum on Tuesday, Sept. 23, as Thunderbirds packed the stands for the annual Pep Rally and Powderpuff game. The event kicked off homecoming week with a night full of school spirit, tradition, and friendly competition.

Red team running back in action

The Powderpuff matchup saw the red team face off against the black team in front of an enthusiastic crowd. After an intense back-and-forth battle, the black team pulled away with a 16 – 6 victory, earning bragging rights and plenty of cheers from their classmates.

“It’s always so much fun to see the student body come together like this,” said student Berkli Barton. “The energy from the crowd makes the game even more exciting.”

Before the game, students enjoyed a pep rally featuring performances from SUU Cheer and Dance, as well as appearances from Thunderbird athletes. Fans joined in chants, waved signs, and celebrated the beginning of a packed Homecoming schedule.

The event set the tone for the rest of the week, leading up to Saturday’s Homecoming Parade, tailgate, and football game against West Georgia at 6:30 p.m.

Thunderbirds, the message is clear: Homecoming is here, let’s keep the energy rolling.
