Thunderbirds Weather Forecast: Sept. 8-14

Welcome, Thunderbirds, to Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah, the most unpredictable area around. This time of year, you never know what to expect in the weather forecast, which can disrupt transportation, class schedules and outfit plans.

For those who are not from southern Utah, September typically consists of warmer weather, with temperatures gradually declining throughout the month as fall approaches.

Southern Utah has seen significant rainfall these past couple of weeks. Next week, precipitation levels are expected to decrease.

Monday, Sept. 8 through Wednesday, Sept.11, plan for sunny days in the low 80s, with the highest temperatures being around 82 degrees Fahrenheit. It is still a great time for shorts and a trip to the lake.

Bring a light jacket for the walk to class on Thursday, Sept. 11 and Friday, Sept. 12. Morning and evening temperatures will drop to about 50 degrees Fahrenheit, and the daily high temperatures will reach the mid-70s.

Wind speeds are expected to remain low throughout the week. Friday is currently forecasted for the highest wind speeds at about 12 mph.
