SUUDO hosts informal screen dance and costume party social

Southern Utah University Dance Organization hosted two informal social events on Friday, Oct. 18. These events, the “Screen Dance Informal” and the “Spooky Social,” both happened in Bristlecone Hall Room 105, with the screen dance starting at 6 p.m. and the social starting directly after.

A screen dance is a genre of dance wherein the choreography is created to be filmed. While applications to be a dancer closed Oct. 14, SUU students were encouraged to attend and view dance and film being blended. The types of dance shown were largely up to those who applied. Those with an interest in either form of art were able to see both at the event.

After the screen dance, SUUDO held their Spooky Social, where attendees were encouraged to dress up in a Halloween costume. SUUDO gave a prize for the best costume at the social, giving people a chance to show off their costumes two weeks before Halloween. There were also snacks and opportunities for those attending to speak with the organization and its members.

The Southern Utah University Dance Organization’s events allow students to experience dance in a laid-back, social setting. The Screen Dance and Spooky Social show SUUDO’s creativity and showcase what is to come regarding the organization’s future events. The events allow students to connect with the organization and explore their interest in dance within a supportive environment.
