The Iron County Yetis played their inaugural home game Friday, Oct. 4, at KJ’s Ice Barn. They gained a 5-3 victory against the Bremerton Sockeyes and will play again on Oct. 12.

Even with their final winning score, Yeti fans remained on the edge of their seats throughout the night.

“The game was exciting and the Yetis were really pulling ahead!” shared Enoch resident, Ashley Peterson. “It made us a little nervous when the other team started to make a comeback, but the Yetis held out to win their game on home ice.”

Southern Utah residents filled the stands to support their new hockey team as local vendors contributed their support for KJ’s official grand opening. Attendees enjoyed food from ice cream and hot chocolate to barbeque and nachos throughout the game.

Pre-game entertainment was also offered. Fans of all ages enjoyed swing dancing to live music and ice skating. This grand opening brought significant support to KJ’s Ice Barn and the new Southern Utah hockey team.

With the upcoming events, hockey fans are excited to have the game back in Iron County after four years.

“We were so excited to see the Yetis play on their home ice. We’ve been waiting for this ever since we learned about KJs being built in Enoch,” Peterson added.

The 2024 season has just begun for the Iron County Yetis. Their next home game will be held on Oct. 12 at 8 p.m against Colorado. To stay informed on upcoming events, fans can follow KJs Ice Barn on Instagram. Full-season game dates can be found on the Iron County Yeti schedule.
