SUUSA Senate Meeting 10/09

The Southern Utah University Student Association (SUUSA) held their weekly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 9 to go over current campus issues.

SUUSA is planning on releasing a press release for broader awareness on sexual assault which is a topic that has been of focus all semester.

The school constitution was amended to add a School of Integrated and Engaged Learning (SEAL) senator for the aviation program. The addition hopes to promote growth in the program, especially in terms of granting degrees.

“It’s going to be great,” D’Mia Lamar, SUUSA President said. “I’m interested to see how this plays out in elections and I think it is going to be really great to have another representative on the senate.”

SUUSA announced a desire to move forward with more long term financial goals. Short term goals were also addressed. Among those were funding for the baseball and men’s rugby clubs.

The rugby club was granted money for registration and food costs for their upcoming tournament. In addition, the rugby club received funding to register with the USA Rugby Association to allow the club to enter more tournaments and represent SUU on a larger scale.

For those interested in becoming more involved on campus, SUUSA Senate meetings are held every Tuesday in the Sterling Church Auditorium at 11:30 a.m.
