If you are anything like me you eat ramen constantly. But let’s be honest, what college student doesn’t? However, I have found myself getting tired of the same bland ramen taste every day. It got me thinking: how can I change to way I eat Ramen? Here are five ways to spice up your Ramen tasting experience:
Toss in Greens and Veggies
This option combines flavor with health! Though frozen vegetables are always an option, a personal favorite is fresh green onion and bok choy. These vegetables give your Ramen a satisfying crunch while providing your daily dose of vitamins.
Make it with Eggs
Adding eggs to ramen is cheap, delicious, and easy. Eggs can be easily added to the noodles or cooked in the broth. I always prefer hard-boiled or scrambled eggs, though the eggs can be cooked any way you like. The eggs bring protein and unique flavor to any boring ramen dish.
Add Roasted Chicken
Meat is essential in any college student’s diet. A personal favorite meat of mine is roasted chicken. When thinly sliced and marinated in lime juice, the chicken adds a juicy flavor to any Ramen. Adding roasted chicken or other meats to Ramen allows you to eat meat in a unique way.
Try Asian Flavors
Try a more authentic approach by adding Asian flavors. Furikake, a seasoning that contains seaweed and sesame seeds, is most commonly used. Another authentic flavor is Kamaboko (cured fish slices,) perfect for any seafood lover. Miso Paste can also be added for a genuine, unique flavor. Research other authentic flavors to add. You may be surprised what you find!
Load it with cheese
If all else fails cheese is always an option! Cheese offers a more Americanized flavor to the Ramen. You can add as much or as little as you like. You can even sprinkle some chopped onions on it for that extra flavor.
