Dr. Lynn Vartan along with SUU’s department of music is proud to host Trios for Two musicians Molly Gebrian and Danny Holt at the Thorle Recital Hall on Saturday, Jan. 27.

The performance will feature the two musicians playing pieces composed for three people (hence the name) with Gebrian on the voila and Holt paying both piano and percussion. The performance will also be followed by a Q&A session led by SUU Associate Proffesor in the Music Department, Dr. Vartan.  The Q&A will be  focusing on “Inside the Actors Studio.”

Gebrian received her Doctor of Musical Arts in viola performance from the New England Conservatory of Music, and her undergraduate studies at Oberlin College consisted of viola performance and neuroscience. Gebrian also teaches classes in voila and music theory at the university of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Holt has performed internationally in places such as carnegie Hall, Walt disney concert hall, copenhagen jazzhouse, and many more.

This is one of many performances hosted twice a year in part with the Satellite Salon series. The series, hosted by Dr. Vartan, offers an educational program designed to give students and locals the opportunity to learn from professional musicians and artists.

Workshops held by Gebrian and Holt will cover topics that range from career development to current research regarding instruments and the neuroscience behind it. This opens up a new world to students and the importance of their work in the music industry.

Admission is free to the public and students alike. More information about the performance or the SUU Department of Music can be found on their website.

The Trios for Two event is a performance you do not want to miss!
