Following up on an exciting 2016-17 campaign, the Thunderbird women’s golf team is ready to hit the links this week as they’ll compete in the 2017 Hobble Creek Fall Classic in Springville, Utah for their first competition of the 2017-18 season.

2016-17 Recap

The previous season was a memorable one for the Thunderbirds. Led by Taylor Viquelia, who graduated following the season, the Thunderbirds had nine top-ten finishes as a team and claimed victory in the Battle at Boulder Creek.

The Lady T-Birds finished sixth in the Big Sky Conference Championships at the end of April. Aside from their victory, SUU finished third three times during the year excelling at the Hobble Creek Fall Classic, the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational and the Bobcat Desert Invitational.

Former Freshman of the Year

Entering her sophomore season as a Thunderbird, SUU’s Poy Prasurtwong has already made quite a name for herself at Southern Utah and around the Big Sky Conference.

Prasurtwong won Big Sky Freshman of the Year following a great season. She finished in second or tied for second in the first three collegiate tournaments she competed in, and did the same thing when the T-Birds claimed victory in the Battle at Boulder Creek.

She finished the season with a average round score of 74.58.
