The Southern Utah University Wind Symphony will become the first student ensemble to perform in the new Dolores Eccles Music Center on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 7:30 p.m.
The auditioned ensemble, composed of SUU’s top wind and percussion students, will perform in the Okerlund Concert Hall. Admission is free, and both SUU students and community members are invited to attend.
Wind Symphony Director Adam Lambert said the concert will feature several audience favorites.
“The concert [will] feature an exciting program of audience favorites, including Dmitri Shostakovich’s energetic ‘Festive Overture’ and Arturo Márquez’s vibrant ‘Danzón No. 2,’” Lambert said. “The Wind Symphony will also feature SUU’s outstanding trumpet professor, Dr. David Torres, as soloist on ‘Centennial Horizon.’”
The Dolores Eccles Music Center officially opened on Sept. 24 after a celebratory ribbon cutting ceremony.
