Southern Utah University held a car show and movie night event to kick off Homecoming Week on Monday, Sept. 21. Those in attendance were also treated to a screening of the movie “Cars” in the Library Quad.
The event started at 7 p.m. as Volkswagen cars from the High Desert Air-Cooled Syndicate rolled in. SUU’s very own car was on display in the Library Quad, and will stay on display throughout the week.
Students lined up for free popcorn and cotton candy as the sun began to set. More than 200 people brought blankets, sat down on the grass and watched the movie.
“The car’s activity was epic!” said Mason Williams, a senior at SUU. “Seeing the classic cars up close was really cool, especially with the snacks.”
SUU’s car show and movie night enabled students to participate in two SUU traditions, with more events set to come throughout the week. For the full schedule, click here.
