Cindy Crawford’s son dies in rehab of suspected overdose

Presley Gerber, son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, died on Sunday at age 27.

Gerber checked into a Santa Monica rehab facility on Saturday night, seeking treatment for substance abuse, but was later found unresponsive Sunday morning. First responders attempted life saving measures but Gerber was pronounced dead at approximately 9:45 a.m.

The Santa Monica Police Department is investigating the death as a suspected overdose. In a statement, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner shared that an autopsy has been performed on Gerber, but listed his cause of death as “deferred,” which means additional testing was requested in order to confirm the cause.

The department stated that it can take several months to determine a cause of death in deferred cases.

In recent years, Gerber publicly spoke on his addiction and mental health struggles. He started a video series on Instagram called “Mental Health Mondays,” where he talked about depression and addiction. He said his goal was to spark conversation.

Gerber and his sister, Kaia, both followed in their mom’s footsteps, as models. During his runway career, Gerber walked in shows for Balmain, Moschino and Dolce & Gabbana.

In a family statement, the Gerber family asked for privacy during this “very difficult and painful time.”
