The Campus Learning Centers open house, which took place on Wednesday, September 9 from 10 a.m. -2 p.m., allowed students to tour the writing center, the public speaking center and the tutoring center.
Located in the Braithwaite Building, the writing center allows students to receive help in their academic writing. Any student who needs help , whether it’s a 10 page paper or a professional email, can make an appointment or drop-in to visit the writing center.
The public speaking center, also located in the Braithwaite Building, is another great resource for students. The center is open five days a week and students can schedule appointments here, or simply drop by. The center is staffed by qualified students willing to provide guidance for anyone wanting to improve their public speaking skills.
Melissa Funk, the director of the public speaking center, describes the center as “a free resource on campus that helps you feel more confident giving speeches in your classes.”
For students seeking any other general academic help, the tutoring center is located in the ELC building and they can make an appointment or drop by for help in their classes.. Nearly 60 qualified students staff the tutoring center, providing academic support for over 200 diverse courses each year. More information can be found on the center’s official page.
The Campus Learning Centers open house was a great opportunity for students to learn more about on-campus resources and ensure they have a great school year.
