Teen boy life-flighted after being hit by a car in Cedar City

A 14-year-old boy was life-flighted after he was hit by a car while crossing Main Street in Cedar City. The accident occurred around 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27 near the intersection of 800 S. and  Main Street.

The Cedar City Police Corporal Kyle Barrett said the boy was launched into the curb and ditch on the west side of the street due to the impact of the vehicle.

“He had a pretty obvious broken leg and some other injuries,” Barrett said. “We haven’t gotten all the details yet, but it sounds like he was just trying to dart across and just didn’t time it right.”

The woman who was operating the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with police, according to Barrett. The vehicle involved received moderate damage to the front bumper but is still drivable. Traffic was impacted after the accident with partial and full lane closures for at least an hour.
