Cedar City is forecasted to receive snow on Thursday, March 5.
According to weather services, there is an 84% chance of snow. It is expected that Cedar City will receive an inch in the morning, followed by cloudy weather for the remainder of the day. There is expected to be a high around 40 degrees Fahrenheit, with nighttime temperatures reaching the mid to high 20s.
The weather is expected to clear up on Friday, March 4, with mostly cloudy weather and a high in the low 40s.
As most SUU students will be leaving campus for spring break, caution should be taken on the roads. With the weather being warmer during the day, snow is more likely to melt and freeze overnight, making roads icy and hazardous.
To avoid potential accidents, drivers are advised to reduce speed, as this can reduce the risk of sliding. It is also necessary to avoid using cruise control on icy roads, as this can cause drivers to lose control of their vehicles.
For students heading north or driving through mountainous areas, extreme caution should be taken, and travelers should be advised of avalanche and weather warnings.
