Valentine’s Season is taking over SUU campus

Red hearts, love songs and pink flyers are everywhere, and whether you’re walking around campus or scrolling on your phone, it’s clear that Valentine’s Day is almost here. Southern Utah University is leaning into the season of love with a full week of Valentine-themed events.

To start the week off, on Monday, Feb. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m., the SUU Student Programming Board is hosting the Spread the Love event in the Sharwan Smith Student Center Ballroom. The event will feature karaoke, a photo booth, a candy and cereal bar as well as a letter-writing station.

Speaking of “station,” this whole week, the university’s radio station, Thunder 91, is also participating in the celebration by playing song shout-outs dedicated to your special someone. Fill out a quick form and let the music do the talking.

If you missed Monday’s letter-writing opportunity, another session will be hosted by the Leavitt Center later in the week on Thursday, Feb. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m.

To wrap up the week with some adventure, SUU Outdoors is hosting a Valentine’s climbing night on Friday, Feb. 13, from 5  to 9 p.m. in the PE Building. It’s the perfect way to make memories, try something new and maybe even hold hands, for safety reasons, of course…

For those feeling more creative, the College of Performing & Visual Arts is hosting a Community Throwing Night the same day and time in the Ceramics Studio, room 203 of the Event Center.

Looking for something extra romantic? SUU Choirs are offering singing valentines for $5 from Feb. 12–13 on campus and on Feb. 14 at the Johnson Center. Funds from the event will support the SUU Choirs program.

The week will conclude with the SUU Department of Music hosting the Valentine’s Spring Swing Thing at 7 p.m. in the Student Center Rotunda. This event will give students a fun way to dance, move and celebrate Valentine’s Day.

With a wide range of activities available, SUU offers students many ways to celebrate the season of love. For more information, check the SUU event calendar.
