Latin Student Alliance to Protest ICE on SUU Campus

Southern Utah University’s Latin Student Alliance will host a peaceful protest against the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, on Wednesday, Feb. 4. The demonstration will take place on the library quad from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Students protesting are protected by the First Amendment and supported by SUU policy.

Participants attending are encouraged to wear blue in honor of 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos, who was famously pictured in recent photos next to an ICE vehicle in Minnesota. The color references the blue bunny hat the boy was wearing in the photo. His father was detained by ICE and Liam accompanied him to a detention center in Texas. They were released yesterday, Feb. 3.

SUU Latin Student Alliance is open to all students. The group meets every Wednesday at different locations for various activities. Last week, members made signs in preparation for the protest.
