Southern Utah has a vibrant live music scene, so here are some opportunities to experience it this week!
Tuesday, Jan. 20:
The Johnson Arts Center at 59 N. 100 W. will present its weekly SokHop performance. Community members can gather to hear live local music for $5. This week’s bands are Cedar City’s own SEIZER and Post Human Democracy. Both groups will entertain headbangers with heavy and alternative metal starting at 7:15 p.m.
Wednesday, Jan. 21:
SUU alumnus Mark Rau will be performing works by Bach, Beethoven, Liszt and Messiaen in the Thorley Recital Hall. This concert is free and open to the public. If interested in classical music or wanting to try something new, head to the recital hall at 7:30 p.m.
Friday, Jan. 23:
Jason Tyler Burton will be performing his album release show at Park Place Eatery at 7 p.m. A $5 donation is suggested at the door. Burton is an indie folk artist from Pinedale, Wyoming, and he’ll be playing his new songs being released that day, alongside a few sing-along classics.
The Black Bird Bar will be hosting the one-man band Tom Bennett from 9 p.m. until midnight. He’ll be playing classic country music, featuring tunes from Hank Williams, Keith Urban and Johnny Cash. There is no cover fee and this is a 21+ event.
Saturday, Jan. 24:
The Willow Glen Resort at 3308 N. Bulldog Rd. will host various artists for their weekly open mic night. The Roadhouse Wranglers will kick the evening off with a performance at 7 p.m., after which anyone is welcome to get up on stage and share their talents.
That’s all for now, folks! Stay tuned for next week’s concert lineup.
