Welcome back T-Birds! Spring semester has begun, and Cedar City, Utah, featured snowy skies and icy roads to kick off the first week.
Next week, the weather forecast is looking up. After an estimated 3-5 inches of snowfall, temperatures will begin to rise, with highs in the low to mid 40’s.
The nighttime temperatures will drop to as low as 20 degrees Fahrenheit, which could result in slick roads. Students are advised to use caution when transporting to class.
Sunny conditions are expected to persist throughout the week with only a slight chance of precipitation.
Despite the increase in temperature, this weekend will remain in the low 30’s, with wind speeds making it feel even colder. Cedar City offers a variety of indoor activities, including sporting and arts events, to still enjoy the days off from school. All events can be found on the Visit Cedar City website.
With the drastic decrease in temperatures over these last few weeks, experts recommend a change in habits in order to avoid sickness and obtain mental well-being over the winter season.
“The holidays are a wonderful time for family, friends and celebrations. But winter can take a toll on your physical and mental health, even during the festivities,” said medical professional Peter Reisner.
Reisner suggests warm clothing, limited time outdoors, exercise and sleep to stay happy and healthy in these cold temperatures.
