Southern Utah University’s Student Involvement and Leadership Office hosted the event ”Cauldron and Crafts” on Oct. 21 in the living room of the Sharwan Smith Student Center. Students were invited to come enjoy a relaxing moment of togetherness while experimenting with crafts of all kinds.
Attendees came in their pajamas to tackle various creative projects. They made their own coasters, colored Halloween-themed drawings and created some chenille stem crafts.
“My favorite thing was definitely coloring and the hot chocolate,” said Marissa Guerrero, an attendee at the event. “I think (my drawing is) going very well. I love the markers, and I got the puppy and the baby duck one, so it’s cute.”

Along with the crafts, sweet and savory treats, including hot chocolate, popcorn and chocolate-covered pretzels were available. People shared their design ideas in line, and with the music and decorations, the room was filled with a festive autumnal atmosphere.
“These memories are definitely worth it, and people need to learn how to come out of their comfort zone,” added Guerrero. “For the start of fall (this event) is a very nice, calm beginning, and I’m sure with The Scream, it’s going to be a great transition.”
SUU’s annual Halloween party, The Scream, will take place this Saturday, Oct. 25 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the Sharwan Smith Student Center. For updates and details about The Scream and other upcoming events, students can visit the STIL Instagram page or SUU’s event calendar.
