Wrapping up the 2025 regular season, the Southern Utah University women’s gymnastics team will head to Boise, Idaho to take on Boise State University on Friday, Mar. 14, at 7 p.m.
This will be the second meet between these two teams, with SUU coming out on top 196.900-196.300 on Mar. 7.
Southern Utah
It has been a season to remember for Scotty Bauman and the Flippin’ Birds. Southern Utah is 12-4 on the season, 4-0 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, and 5-0 on the road.
SUU enters the week ranked No. 22 in the nation with a national qualifying score of 196.310. Southern Utah has also produced one of the best floor and vault rotations. The Flippin’ Birds rank No. 18 in the nation on the floor and No. 20 on the vault.
Gymnasts Niya Randolph and Ellie Cacciola dominated against Boise State on Mar. 7. Randolph performed a 9.925 on the floor routine, en route to her season-high 39.450 score in the all-around.
Cacciola dazzled in her final meet inside the America First Event Center. The senior from Owasso, Oklahoma landed a 9.900 on the floor and a 9.875 on the vault.
Boise State
The Broncos are looking to square things up ahead of their conference championship on Mar. 22. Boise State is 12-5-1 on the season, 5-1 in the Mountain West Conference, and 4-0 at home.
Despite the loss to Southern Utah, Boise State moved up to No. 28 in the nation with a NQS of 195.980. A large part of their success has been their bar routine. Boise State ranks No. 21 in the nation on bars.
The Broncos best gymnast on the bars has been Emily Lopez. The fifth-year gymnast from Mission Viejo, California has a team-high 9.950 on the bar rotation. Against SUU, Lopez scored a 9.825.
This meet will be streamed live on the Mountain West network.
