The ultimate task: voting in Cedar City

Election Day is coming up on Nov. 5. Here’s how Southern Utah University students can participate.

Utah residents have the early voting option of mail-in ballots. For a mailed ballot to count, it must be postmarked by Nov. 4 or left in a community drop box prior to that date. Cedar City currently has two drop box locations: SUU’s rotunda and the Cedar City Parking Garage by the Heritage Theatre.

Early in-person voting can be done at the Heritage Center Oct. 29 through Nov. 1 from noon to 5 p.m. In-person voting on Election Day will open at 7 a.m. at the Heritage Center.

“This year’s presidential election won’t be decided by a margin of millions of votes, but likely by thousands,” shared Stateline

According to the Center for Information & Research on Civic Learning and Engagement, it is estimated that 41 million members of Gen Z will be able to vote in this election.

To be eligible to vote, you need to be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, and a Utah resident for at least 30 days before the election. If you’re not eligible now, the next presidential election will be held in 2028.
