Soccer drops final game of the season 4-0

The Southern Utah University women’s soccer team hosted rival Utah Tech University in the final game of the regular season. Utah Tech used a strong first half to earn the 4-0 win over Southern Utah.

SUU fell to 2-10-5 on the season and 0-5-2 in Western Athletic Conference play. Utah Tech improved to 5-6-5 overall and 2-4-1 in the conference.

First half
Utah Tech came out on fire, putting pressure on Southern Utah all game long. Lacy Fox started the scoring for Utah Tech with a goal in the seventh minute. Later in the half, Kyah Le and Bre Koscielski added goals in the 32nd and 39th minutes.

Utah Tech shot five times on the goal and only missed one shot on a nice save from SUU’s Stacy Barresi. Southern Utah still managed to get five shots off but never got close enough. The first half ended 3-0.

Second half
More of the same action from Utah Tech as they came out swinging once again. Shortly into the second half, the reserves for both teams came in, receiving extra playing time.

Utah Tech’s goalkeeper, Brianna Frey, was on another level, allowing no goals and eight saves. A last-second goal from Kalea Woodyatt would close the game out 4-0.

What’s next?
Southern Utah’s season is drawing to a close. Utah Tech’s win clinched the last spot in the WAC Tournament.
