SUU Track and Field Sets Records in Four Competitions
AUSTIN, Texas– The Thunderbird track and field team earned multiple record performances at the Texas Relays, Bobcat Invitational, the Mike Fanelli Track Classic and the Stanford Invitational over the weekend.
Texas Relays
Frank Harris III finished fifth in the high jump with a score of 7’ ¼”.
Bobcat Invitational
Lauren Empter earned the school’s fifth best all-time shot put mark at 46’ 11”. She finished ninth in the competition.
Lacey Hocchalter got SUU’s fifth best all-time javelin throw with a 140’ 1” mark. She finished third overall in the competition.
Skyler Porcaro won the men’s javelin throw with a 221’ 4 ½” throw.
Devon Montgomery won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.25.
Mike Fanelli Track Classic
In San Francisco, Linnea Saltz finished fourth overall in the 800-meter with a time of 2:08.17. This time gives Saltz the second best time in program history.
Stanford Invitational
George Espino set a new school record with a time of 1:49.15 in the 800-meter. He finished fourth in the competition.
The Thunderbirds will return to action on April 12 at the UC Riverside Highlander Challenge.
Women’s Tennis Sweeps Montana Schools
BOZEMAN, Mont. — The SUU women’s tennis team defeated Montana 4-3 on Friday and Montana State 5-2 on Sunday to complete the weekend sweep. With the victories, the T-Birds improve to 10-5 overall and 3-0 in league play.
SUU will host in-state rival Weber State on Friday, April 5.
