SUU Hosts Seventh Annual Festival of Excellence

The seventh annual Festival of Excellence will be held on April 2. The event is “dedicated to celebrating scholarship in all forms on campus.”  The festival will be held across SUU’s campus and will host a variety of different students who will present.

The Festival of Excellence is an extension of SUU’s mission statement: “Celebrate[ing] SUU’s scholarly efforts through interdisciplinary dialogue to encourage lifelong learning.”

The majority of the presentations will be approximately 15 minutes long and will include two minutes for questions. Individuals or groups are eligible to present in different “mediated classrooms.”  The full list, including the times and locations, of the 2019 Festival of Excellence Program can be found here.

SUU students can visit a variety of presentations including displays, demonstrations, panels, performances, gallery talk, roundtables and ThunderTalk (which is 20 slides displayed for 20 seconds each). Static presentations, including technical drawings, designs or other objects, will be viewable all day .

Awards will also be given at the event, including the “Distinguished Student Presentation Award,” and the “Distinguished Mentor Award.”

Students have the day off of classes, to support their fellow T-Birds.

In Provost Bradley J. Cook’s own words: “Please join me in finding common ground as we celebrate the wonderful diversity of ideas, backgrounds and perspectives across SUU’s campus.”
