Ice Bowling Offers a Cool Break for Students

Students at SUU were offered a break from their second week of classes on Tuesday, January 15 with Ice Bowling in Student Center Living Room. Three games of miniature bowling were laid out for any who were interested. Other board games were offered and groups of students played Jenga and Twister while waiting their turn for bowling.

The cold day and the snow from the previous night brought students inside where they were offered a warm refreshments. Hot chocolate was available for all as well as whipped cream, marshmallows, and chocolate chips to add to the drink.

Maverick Pexton, a sophomore, political science major and Student Planning Board (SPB) assistant director, said “I loved the hot chocolate, it was fun to bowl and just play games so I had a really good time.”

The SPB had a mission with the event and they believe they achieved what they set out to do.  Pexton explains “our goal was just to kinda let kids come in and have a really laid-back, chill environment.”

The main attraction for many was the hot chocolate station. Most of the audience huddled close to the table for their drinks and to talk with friends. The music playing over the speakers offered a warm and inviting atmosphere that brought more people in as time went on.

Adalena Magaan, a freshman, elementary education major in attendance, enjoyed the event and the break it offered from classes.

“It was a lot of fun. It was nice for people who didn’t have a lot going on to just come have a break and have fun.”
