The Southern Utah University Student Association (SUUSA) held their first senate meeting of the semester on Tuesday, Jan. 8 to go over current campus issues.
Salt Lake City has been selected to host the 2019 United Nations NGO Conference and SUUSA encourages students interested in politics to attend.
“It’s really special because this is the first time that they’re holding it there,” said D’Mia Lamar, SUUSA president. “We’re trying to get students involved in coming and participating.”
Sustainability will be the main focus of the council and tickets will be free.
“Meet Your SUUSA” will be held on Jan. 10 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Student Center Living Room.
The SUU Outdoor Engagement Center is exploring the possibility of renovating the old business quad on campus. Possibilities range from adding lights, planting more trees, adding hammocking areas and many more. SUUSA will create surveys on the student portal to gather opinions and ideas regarding the quad renovations.
For those interested in becoming more involved on campus, SUUSA Senate meetings are held every Tuesday in the Sterling Church Auditorium at 11:30 a.m.
