One of Southern Utah University’s biggest and most well attended events, The Scream, is just around the corner. This Halloween celebration and dance will be held on Oct. 26 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the SUU student center.
Students can pick up their tickets in the STIL offices found in the Student Center Room 177.
Tickets are free to all SUU students, if picked up before Thursday Oct. 25. Non-SUU students who are 18 or older, can buy tickets for $15.
Prices will jump to $20 for all attendees the day of the event.
This year’s theme is “Abandoned Wonderland”, a dark twist on the notable children’s book and movie, Alice in Wonderland.
“This year’s scream is going to be amazing!” Alexis Hacking, the Student Programming Board Director in charge of the event said. “My goal is to make you feel like you have been abandoned in Wonderland and I hope our decorations do that.”
The SPB team has been tirelessly working over the past two weeks to create giant mushrooms, hanging hats, and murals to help draw students into the underworld.
“Our biggest goal this year is to make it more than just a big dance,” Hacking said. “We have included other entertainment that will run throughout the night that will help bring the Wonderland feel.”
DJ Marcus Wing will be showcasing the event, with guest magicians and mentalists. Other events will also include airbrush tattoos, card readers, a murder mystery party and student performances.
“I loved The Scream last year and can’t wait to attend this year”, Nawa Krengchai, a sophomore studying hotel, resort and hospitality management from Beaver, said.
