SUUSA Senate: 2/15/2018

The SUUSA Senate met Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in the Sterling R. Church Auditorium for a brief meeting to make reports and announcements. The Senate brought no items of business, new or old, to the table.

Of notable interest, the Finance Committee announced they are out of money. Until the committee decides whether or not to withdraw more money from the SUUSA accounts, the committee does not have anything to do. If they decide to withdraw more money, they will continue working on funding requests. If they do not withdraw more money, they will find a new project to work on.

Upper Division Senator Jeremy Osborne made another announcement that the Tobacco and Smoke-Free Campus ad hoc committee would continue to meet Tuesday and Thursday at 4 p.m. The voting members have been decided, but the meetings are still open to the public.

The Senate announced the commencement speech contest, where students compete to be able to speak at commencement. A $500 prize will be awarded to the winner. Further advertising and digital signage will be posted soon.

The Student Fee Recommendation Committee will also reconvene briefly to hear a request from the President’s Council to add a fee to build a Medical Center on Campus. They will reconvene Tuesday at 5 to 6 p.m.

The Senate meeting in its entirety can be viewed here.

The Senate will meet again next Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in the Sterling R. Church Auditorium. Meetings are open to the public.
