The Thunderbird women’s basketball team fell in their home contest against the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners on Monday evening, with CSUB topping SUU 46-45.
Points were hard to come by early on, as the Thunderbirds led 11-7 after the first quarter of play. The Roadrunners flipped the script in the second quarter, outscoring the T-Birds 11-8. The T-Birds led 19-18 at the half.
Bakersfield was able to tie the contest up at the end of the third quarter, and the contest remained very close down the stretch. The two teams went back-and-forth to close out the game, and the Roadrunners found themselves on top at the conclusion 46-45.
On her birthday, Whitney Johnson led the Thunderbirds with 14 points and pulled in five rebounds. Skylee Doman had 13 points for SUU, with two shots going down from behind the three point line. Doman also pulled in nine rebounds.
The Thunderbirds shot 34 percent from the field, and 19 percent from behind the three point line.
Aja Williams led the Roadrunners with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
The Lady T-Birds will be back in action on Thursday November 30 in Orem, Utah as they take on the Utah Valley Wolverines. Tip off is set for 7:00 p.m. in the Lockhart Arena.
