No. 23 Northern Arizona at No. 14 Southern Utah: SUU beat NAU 48-20 to win the Big Sky Championship and earn a No. 8 national seed for the FCS Playoffs. Sophomore running back Jay Green tallied 134 rushing yards and three TD in the victory. Special teams were key in the win as the Thunderbirds took advantage of a couple Lumberjack miscues to help build an early 27-6 lead. The first miscue was a fumbled kickoff that SUU recovered and scored on the ensuing possession. The second was when SUU attempted a squib kick that bounced off the helmet of an NAU player before SUU pounced on the loose ball. SUU will get a bye in the first round of the playoffs before hosting the winner of Weber State versus Western Illinois on Dec. 2. NAU made the playoffs despite the loss and will host San Diego in the first round on Nov. 25.
Cal Poly at Northern Colorado: Sophomore quarterback Conor Regan threw for 302 yards and four TD to lead UNC to a 42-0 thrashing of Cal Poly.
Montana at Montana State: Montana State fought for a 31-23 rivalry victory behind senior running back Nick LaSane’s 124 yards and a TD. The Bobcats ran for 322 yards in their win.
Idaho State at No. 12 Weber State: Senior quarterback Stefan Cantwell scored four total TD as the Wildcats topped Idaho State 35-7 to claim a share of the Big Sky title. WSU will host Western Illinois on Nov. 25 in the first round of the playoffs.
UC Davis at Sacramento State: Junior quarterback Kevin Thomson threw for three TD and ran for another in the Hornets thrilling 52-47 rivalry win over UC Davis. The teams combined for 1,250 total yards in the high-scoring affair.
Portland State at No. 17 Eastern Washington: Junior quarterback Gage Gubrud and sophomore running back Antoine Custer led the Eagles to a 59-33 win over PSU. Gubrud passed for 445 yards and four TD. Custer ran for 177 yards and three TD.
Individual Leaders: Passing- Jake Maier (UC Davis): 3,669 yards; Rushing- Jared Mohomed (Cal Poly): 1,165 yards; Receiving- Keelan Doss (UC Davis): 1,499 yards; Kicking- Brandon Purdy (Montana): 15/17 field goals.
Champions: Southern Utah and Weber State; SUU received the conference’s automatic playoff bid due to their 32-16 head-to-head win.
