The giant ‘C’ painted on Cedar Mountain is a recognizable landmark by most, but many may not know there is a trail leading to the overlook. The ‘C’ trail is an eight-mile path that winds down the face of the mountain east of Cedar City and borders Dixie National Forest.
The trail is considered moderate to high in difficulty. Containing several tight switchbacks, the path is strenuous for both hiking and mountain biking. The trail takes roughly four hours round trip on foot.
The path is clearly marked and includes multiple resting benches. Dogs are allowed on the trail as long as they remain on leashes. Motorized vehicles such as ATVs or OHVs and equestrian riding is prohibited on the mountain. Hikers and bikers are expected to be aware and courteous of one another.
