SUUSA SENATE 11/02

Possible study abroad funding is in the works as of the SUUSA Senate meeting on Thursday. While scholarships are available through individual departments, SUU does not provide any funding for the study abroad programs.

Kirsten Mudrown, education senator and member of the finance committee, said that while the changes were tabled during the meeting, the finance committee has heard the call for funding and they want to help.

“There’s probably a good chance it’s going to (change), but I don’t know how,” Midtown said. “… We’re trying to look at all the sides of it before we officially change anything.”

The finance committee will review the policy on funding study abroad trips for students during their meeting this week to see if funding would be possible. Their findings will be brought to the senate meeting on Thursday, Nov. 9 for review and a vote.

SUUSA election rules are also facing changes. Ideas were brought up during the meeting; however, all changes have been tabled until students’ voices have been heard. A two question survey is available on the mySUU Portal for students to give their input on the possible changes.

SUUSA senate meets every Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in the Church Auditorium. Students are welcome to attend the meetings or watch them live on SUUSA’s Facebook page.
