Day One Complete At Aggie Invitational

The Thunderbird women’s golf team wrapped up the first day of play at the New Mexico State Aggie Invitational on Monday, with two days remaining at the NM State Golf Course in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Kamonwan (Poy) Prasurtwong led the way for the Thunderbirds, shooting a 79 on Monday to end the day in a tie for 37th.

Kyla Smith and Launa Wilson both finished the day in a tie for 46th, as they both finished with an 81. Nicole Jones finished one shot behind them, shooting an 82 and ending Monday in a tie for 49th. Lindsay Aleman finished fifth for the Thunderbirds and in a tie for 52nd on the day, shooting a 84 on Monday.

As a team the Thunderbirds finished in 10th place with a 323.

Sacramento State leads the tournament after the first day, shooting 287 as a team. UTEP (294) and Santa Clara (301) will be in second and third respectively moving into the second day of the event.

Hornet Astha Madan had the low round on Monday, shooting a 70.

Play will resume at 8:30 on Tuesday morning, as the teams will have a shotgun start.
