This is a breaking story. We will provide updates as they become available. Ringing in the last month of 2023, a 3.9-magnitude earthquake rocked Cedar City at 12:16 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 1. The quake, felt throughout southern Utah, originated 17 miles south of Southern Utah University in Zion National Park’s Kolob Canyon. To date, the tremendously popular HBO television series “Game of Thrones” has received 164 Primetime Emmy Award nominations. The pilot episode is titled “Winter Is Coming,” and when it premiered, it drew 2.22 million viewers. Little 10-year-old Nick was not one of those people, but even though I’ve never seen the show, it certainly seems as though “Game of Thrones” was right. Getting enough sleep is indisputably one of the biggest challenges of college life. I personally find that, between juggling school assignments, building up my finances and pursuing extracurricular activities, finding time to rest is a task that tends to get neglected. My solution for this issue is to find gaps in my schedule where I can take a short power nap. Even a 15-minute rest can save me from intense physical and mental exhaustion. For students that spend the majority of their day at school, I’ve compiled some “genius” and “garbage” places on Southern Utah University’s campus to take a nap. Who’s ready for the new edition of the magazine?! 🙌 Our Hidden Gems edition of the University Journal drops this Monday, October 30! We’re throwing a halloween party and you’re invited! 🎃👻 Come join us for some candy and wear a costume as we celebrate the hard work of the SUU News staff!! The National Park Service’s Fat Bear Week began Wednesday, Oct. 4, and will run until the following Tuesday, Oct. 10. Fat Bear Week is an annual event in which the public is invited to vote on which bear they think best “exemplifies fatness,” per explore.org, as they pack on pounds in preparation for winter.
