A construction worker was killed on Tuesday morning after being hit and pinned by a dump truck while on a job site in Cedar City, Utah.
According to Fox13, the man was identified as 24-year-old Truman Yardley. Yardley was greasing the bucket of an excavator on a job site at the Sonrise Christian Church when a dump truck backed into him. This incident is under investigation, but it is currently deemed an accident.
Yardley was a member of the Cedar City and Southern Utah University community. When he was not working in construction, he worked as a production lead for the Johnson Center’s weekly SokHop.
“Truman was an invaluable part of the success of SokHop and the southern Utah music scene as a whole,” wrote the SokHop Team in a post on Instagram. “He leaves behind a legacy of selflessness, kindness and love for his community that we all strive to honor.”
Performers at the Johnson Center have also expressed their condolences online since the death of Yardley.
“It was hard not to feel happy around him on those Tuesday nights,” said Grace Parke. “You could always tell just how passionate he was about the people in our scene and the music itself. I’m very grateful that I got to know him for as long as I did.”
The community is now raising money through GoFundMe for Yardley’s wife, Lexi. Lexi Yardley is currently pregnant with her and her late husband’s first baby.
“So heartwarming, and that’s what I love about this community that we live in,” said Iron County Public Information Officer, Cassie Meredith. “We take care of each other when push comes to shove.”
