Southern Utah University’s Outdoors Outdoor Education Series hosts two guest speakers in October. The Outdoor Education Series continues this month with guest speakers Brandon Croft and Joey LaValley.
On Thursday, Oct. 8, Brandon Croft will discuss lessons he learned through ultrarunning. Ultrarunning is any run longer than a marathon, which can be as long as 100-mile runs.
Croft will also give strategies on how to prepare for “big scary goals”. Free Pizza will be provided in the SUU Outdoors Basecamp in the student center starting at 6 p.m.
On Thursday, Oct. 22, Joey LaValley, an archaeologist from the Bureau of Land Management, will discuss what it is like to be in his field of Great Basin archaeology. LaValley will also educate students about 15,000 years of human and environmental history. This will also take place in the SUU Outdoors Basecamp in the student center at 6 p.m. Free Pizza will also be provided.
SUU Outdoors hosts their Outdoor Education Series to invite others to learn and be inspired by local outdoor professionals.
“These clinics and presentations, held every other week at SUU Outdoors’ Basecamp, are designed to educate, inspire and get you excited about getting outside,” according to the SUU Outdoors website. “Learn more about climbing, how to fix your bike, what to pack for your next backpacking trip, hear about others’ adventures, and much more!”
