Southern Utah University held their annual Homecoming parade and pancake breakfast Saturday morning, Sept. 28.
The breakfast was held in the parking lot of the R. Haze Hunter Alumni Center from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and featured approximately 1,000 pancakes flipped by Emeriti. Tradition Keepers were present providing pictures and signs for those looking to complete the yearly SUU tradition.
“My favorite part of homecoming week is the pancake breakfast because I love pancakes and it’s free,” said Hailey Jex, a student in attendance.
Starting at the Southern Utah Museum of Art at 10 a.m., different SUU organizations and clubs, as well as local businesses participated in the homecoming parade. The various floats threw T-shirts, candy, provided music and more as they went down University Boulevard before ending at the YSA 1st Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
“We’re just trying to get all the alumni involved here at SUU during homecoming weekends, and help them complete traditions.” said Connor Gold, a member of the student alumni association. “There are so many people here. Current students and older alumni all join together just to celebrate SUU. It’s a super awesome experience.”
