KURU Footwear ranked Utah as No. 4 in its national ranking of ‘best states to hike in’ for its 2026 analysis.
Utah has 3,612 hiking trails with an average trail rating of 4.4. Along with the Mighty 5 national parks, Utah is also home to 42 state parks and nine national monuments.
Utah was also the state with the lowest annual precipitation on the list.
“Utah makes a strong case for hikers who like clear skies and jaw-dropping views,” KURU explains. “Its trails wind through red rock canyons, slickrock paths, and rugged desert landscapes that feel almost too stunning to be real.”
Another KURU list was the top 10 best national parks to hike in, where Zion National Park ranked No. 9 as “a maze of red rocks and bold adventure.” Zion has 93 hiking trails with an average rating of 4.4. Visitation reached almost 5 million in 2025.
