Southern Utah University Outdoors is holding a rock climbing social for the start of the new year. The social will be held at the Iron Cliffs Climbing Gym on Thursday, Sept. 17 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
This event is for anyone 18 to 30, and there is a $5 entry fee at the door. Everyone is welcome whether you’re a beginner or experienced. This is an opportunity for students to learn the basics of rock climbing. Meeting local climbers is also a benefit of attending the social.
Other activities include a kilter board competition as well as a raffle. A kilter board is an app-controlled climbing wall that uses LED lights to show a climbing path. This is the first rock climbing social event the Outdoor Department has held.
The Iron Cliffs Climbing gym is located at 593 N 1450 W Cedar City.
